A good date. Paintballing tomorrow.
I get nervous on dates at the best of times. I never know exactly what to say or do, and most of the time I end up saying stupid things. Anyone who’s ever gone out on a date with me will know firsthand how awkward it can be, but I make no apologizes as I really do try my hardest to impress and have a good time. Of course with age and experience the whole dating scene is becoming somewhat less nerve wreaking for me, and when it’s with someone I’ve sort of been out with before it isn’t so bad.
When you go out with a Korean girl, however, other complications start appearing. Most obvious is the whole language thing. My date last night speaks good English, she hears even better, so it wasn’t so bad. Getting into more complicated issues did require a lot of work, much more from her than me admittedly, but we managed to talk for a good 3 hours straight. Even that for me this was impressive.
I also managed to give my Korean a good working out, but as with most times I simply ran out of words after about an hour or so. Still, I had an exceptionally good time and managed to creep back to my room sometime after 1 this morning, a little tanked on soju, but definitely feeling buzzy.
To say the least we both had a good time. I can say this with some confidence as I received a text message on my phone from the girl saying so, and she wanted to go to a singing room with me next time we go out. Excellent. You don’t just sing in singing rooms… Muwhahaha!
I also received a barrage of text messages from her this morning and apparently, when I get back from Seoul on Sunday, she’s taking me somewhere special in the afternoon. I have no idea where, and hoping I don’t have too much of a hang over from Saturday night, I’m looking forward to it. Should be a most excellent time regardless.
So what am I doing this weekend I hear you asking? Well Jay and I are heading up to Seoul to do some paintballing. That’s right, I’m putting myself in a position where Jay can shoot me, as crazy as that sounds. Thankfully there will be about 30 other foreigners with me so I’m hoping Jay will find a more easier target than I. I’m sure if we’re on the same team he’ll still want to shoot me. Actually he told me he will, so I’ll have to watch the back as well as the front of me.
I’ve never been paintballing, but I’m told its a lot of fun, so I’m looking forward to it. My only worry is being hit early on in the games and not being able to shoot anyone else. I can see that happening. When it comes to mucho stuff like war game, I’m pretty piss-weak to say the least. I don’t want to get myself dirty, crawl in the mud, or get sand in my shoes, so I might be out of my element here. Still, I’m expecting a good time.
And of course afterwards I’m catching up with some friends for some serious drinking.
So for now, I’m happy. You can’t ask for more than that at the moment.
