Maintaining the fish tanks and a Daegu weekend.
One of my chores since Jay left was to maintain the fish tanks. They’re two, biggish, tanks that require at very least weekly water changes and cleaning. We have two large sucker fish, one for each tank, which ensures that there is never any algae to clean, and that the floor of the tanks are relatively clean. There is of course the tritus (sp?) build up on the bottom which needs to be removed. Jay left me with a larger sucking equipment that vacuums the bottom of the tank while you’re emptying the water.
Seeing as I don’t change the water twice a week like Jay used, I remove a third of the water every time a clean the tanks. The amount of waste at the bottom of the tanks is considerable, considering the size of the fish, but they don’t seem to be having any ill effect since Jay left.
Of course I don’t spend a fraction of the time studying the fish like Jay used to, and to be honest I don’t care what fish is in what tank, as long as they’re not killing each other or dying for other reasons.
My own smaller fish tank in my room doesn’t require the same level of maintenance as larger tanks, but it still needs a water change every now and then.
All the fish seem happy enough. Jay used to feed them three times a day, but I’ve reduced that to once or twice a day. I really don’t want them to keep breeding at this stage seeing as both tanks already a teeming with fish.
Different matter now. This weekend is looking rather busy as Em is going back to china for the summer vacation. She didn’t want to, but seeing as she’s spending all day in the apartment not doing very much it wasn’t that difficult talking her into going back to visit her family. I know how it feels to miss you family, and while I’ll miss her to bits, I’ll be happy knowing she is with her family and having fun.
I’ll be taking her to Daegu airport first thing Saturday morning.
While I’m in Daegu I’ll also catch up with a couple of old friends from Adong. I haven’t hung up with them much since they left so it should be a good time. I’m undecided whether or not I’ll spend the night in Daegu, but at this stage it seems more likely then not that I will. It should fun.
And no doubt on Sunday I’ll be nursing a hang over for most of the day. Ha!
I hope you all have a fun weekend too.
