16th May 2008 – Blog wrap.
These long weekends are just incredible. Not only do you have the luxury of a three day weekend, but the rest of the week just seems to fly right past. And so here we are again at the weekend, although this time its just a regular two day weekend. We do have another long weekend in early June, this time on a Friday, so Em and I are trying to think of things we can do together.
Perhaps a nice train trip through the south of Korea like ‘Seoulbuddy’ Stafford did a couple of weeks ago?
Speaking of Stafford, lets see what the blogosphere brought to us this week;
Why not start with Stafford who, reportingly (why does MS Word pick that up as a spelling mistake?), did some work this month. I don’t know anyone who has more breaks and time off likes this chap and still gets paid bucketloads.
There have only been 6 working days in the last 2 weeks. This week feels like I have managed to cram about 5 days worth of work into four!
And he has the gall to complain about not getting any Teacher Day presents…
Although some of us would like to receive at least one or two things, especially Aaron, who I know is really hoping one of his middle school girls will buy him a Wonder Girls album (don’t deny it mate, you know we both want it).
The Holy Grand Narrative has again been filling us with his personal wisdom on a topic I wish I knew more about, Japanese girls (ok, perhaps Aaron would prefer a Japanese girl for Teacher’s Day?). Oh yeah, it was quiet a pleasant surprise typing in ‘Japanese school girl’ in my Google image search with the filter off. Try it. At school or work. With many people looking at your screen.
Speaking of inappropriate things, it’s pleasing to see that Frugal is still a right bastard by taking his, nut allergic young son, to, where else? A nut shop.
He was horrified when we popped into the Angry Almond as it sold a multitude of nuts – something he is allergic to. I purchased some Yoshiniki peanuts and Japanese peanuts along with unsalted cashews.
Way to go Dad!
Not wanting to leave him out I also got some banana chips and Chinese crackers. When we went to pay for them the assistant asked if he was allowed to have some chocolate. I answered "Yes, as long as it doesn’t have nuts in it. He’s actually allergic to nuts."
I guess that’s kind of a runner-up prize, but any kid has to be happy with chocolate. You can also sponsor his son during his MS Readathon, a very worthwhile charity doing some excellent work.
I’ve been planning to go see the North Korea vs South Korea soccer game in June, although somewhat worried I won’t be able to get a ticket (which is unusual for two fairly average teams). Daegu Owl is going that one step further and also going to the ROK vs Jordan game. What about Derby vs ROK?
And of course one of my favourite weblogs happens to be a cooking one. Anthony, over at Spiceblog, has created a mouth watering lamb dish which I could only ever dream of emulating here in Korea. If you want soem very classy recipes, then here is the place to be.
So, whatever you’re doing this weekend, take care and have fun!
