Making sandwiches for class.
Yesterday at the academy was sandwich making day for my vacation class. The vacation class is an extra class some students do so their parents don’t have to worry about looking after their children during student holidays. I suspect it’s also a nice little revenue earner for the academy.
As mentioned, we made sandwiches. All the students were asked to bring in some bread and ingredients to make a few sandwiches. I did this last year and had a lot of fun, so I was looking forward to doing it again. I’m not sure who has more fun, the kids or I.
Before class started I took them to the bathroom to wash their hands, and then gave them a little sterilizing gel to use on their hands. the last thing I would want is a gravely sick student with food poisoning!
Anyway, photos can be seen here…

Alyissa, Julia, Rachel, and Christine with a mountain of bread. Did they really need a loaf each?

The three boys, Luke, Andrew, and Haiden.

Luke enjoying a good swig of mayonnaise. That’s the way to do it!

The sandwiches were coming out nicely. The students, a little to my surprise, were quite patient and we assembled them step-by-step in English. I made sure to ask plenty of question.

Julia creeping up behind me with a knife. It’s always the cutest ones that turn out to be the psychopaths.
"Err… no thanks. Teacher is a little full"
(Not to mention imitation seafood, ham, cheese, honey mustard, strawberry jam isn’t my favorite combination.)

In the end we had a lot of extra sandwiches (I ate my cheese, mayonnaise, tomato, and lettuce sandwich in class) and most of the students could only eat one, or half, of their sandwiches. A few took sandwiches home for their parents (lucky them) and the rest, well, we gave them to my director, Mr. Yoon.
(In the end they were given out to students who were studying on the teachers rooms throughout the day).
Overall, a very enjoyable class.
