There’s a homeless person on my roof!
I had a little bit of a surprise this morning when taking my laundry up to the roof to dry. Upon opening the door I smelt something awful and then noticed to my left, when turning my face into that direction, two of the three washing lines had been broken. Walking towards the washing lines I also notices around the corner a very old sleeping bag, a dirty pillow, and one of those aluminum foil sleeping blankets to keep yourself warm. The floor was also littered with cigarettes and what looks to be human excrement.
A took a couple of photos;

Obviously signs of someone living illegally on my roof.

One of the broken washing line cables.
The thing that really disturbed me was that one of the cables that was broken was slung over the side of the building directly in front of our window with the other side still attached, firmly, to one of the washing line masts. I’ve heard stories (not so much in Korea, but in China) of people who put ropes or cables from the top of apartment buildings and get into the top floors of apartments through their windows. The windows are usually unlocked as most of the residents, myself included, feel safe at height that no one will break into their apartment through the windows.
From today, whenever I’m not in the apartment, that window will now be locked, as well as the one in the kitchen.
I tired calling the academy this morning, but they don’t open until noon. I was able to get through to my head teacher who said she’ll call the landlord and see what he can do about it.
Understandably, I don’t feel safe with a homeless person living on my roof, especially if they feel comfortable doing their toilet all over the place. When has to wonder what state of mind they must be in. And with Em home alone, when she’s not at work or school, I’m a little unsettled.
If nothing has been done by tomorrow, I’ll contemplate giving the boys in blue a call.

Concerning. Is Korea catching up with the rest of what the West has to offer? And to think that the locals are worried about Uluru being used as a toilet.

That’s terrible. Hope your landlord can sort it out soon.

I’m happy to say he was gone before the day was out thanks to a very nice landlord throwing all his things away.
